Every discussion is tied to a claim, a comparison cell or a source in the Atlas. General discussions do not open here.
A reply rests on a source with an exact locator, or is stated as personal testimony. A challenge or a proposed correction always needs a source.
Usage notes from speakers are recorded and count for the names and local reality of a variety. They do not count as evidence for its place in a classification.
No reply changes the Atlas by itself. The board decides, writes its reasons and publishes them in the corrections history.
Every accepted contribution carries the name of the person who made it, if they allow it. Anyone who does not is credited as a member of the Circle.
The Atlas does not rank varieties as better or worse. We disagree with evidence, not with people or where they come from.
When you take on a question, others see it as under review. If you cannot continue, release it.
Material in the Circle has not been approved for publication. Do not republish it or cite it as the position of the Atlas.
